Building Control
Building Control is not the enemy but is there to help and assist you, its primary job is to ensure your home gets the attention it needs to meet the current building regulations and is structurally safe.
Building Control will do site inspections while work is in progress and advise the homeowner as required. For example, Building Control is required to inform the homeowner if a builder fails to correct any construction which knowingly fails to meet current building or fire regulations. Upon satisfactory completion, Building Control will issue a certificate. On request this may be provided within two working days of the completion inspection and payment of fees.
The site inspections usually occur at different construction stages where the inspector will need to ensure that the development meets its requirements or unforeseen problems arise such as inspection of foundation to check depth and condition of the soil.
For further information the Office of the Deputy Prime Minster published an explanatory booklet regarding the building regulation
